ipad jailbreak

JailbreakMe 3.0 is finally here. The latest version takes advantage of a serious security flaw in Safari and supports iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and iPad 2 devices running firmware versions up to iOS 4.3.3. Already, there have been over a million jailbreaks, according to a twitter post by @chpwn, and user feedback has been very positive.

All users have to do to jailbreak is head to JailbreakMe on their iOS device and click “Install.” The whole process takes less than five minutes and is one of the easiest jailbreak methods out there. [via JailbreakMe]

Opt Out of Targeted iAds

iOS 4 is now out in the wild, and with ads launching July 1st, you better start preparing. iAds are the “next-gen of smart phone advertising.” Basically, iAds allow you to watch and interact with full-screen ads without directing you to a web browser. And like many other advanced advertising systems, iAds are targeted, meaning, you were watching the World Cup, soccer (football) ads will play, you played a racing game, car ads will appear, etc. The good news is that you can opt out of these targeted ads by simply going to http://oo.apple.com on your iOS 4 device. Ads will still be displayed, but they won’t be as intrusive. Granted, you can’t opt out of the location tracking feature that’s present, but it brings some good news.

Browsing through all of Facebook’s various privacy settings can be a pain. Luckily, a new Facebook app called PrivacyDefender is here to help. After allowing the app to access your information, you add a bookmark to your Favorites bar, click on it, and after scanning, a simple, colorful graphic will appear that shows the information you share with friends, friends of friends, and everyone. To fix your settings, all you have to do is drag the arrow on the bottom to what level of privacy you want.

PrivacyDefender is a simple app to fix your Facebook privacy, but lacks the fine-tuning of going through each of Facebook’s settings. So if you want a quick way to fix your privacy, Privacy Defender is the way to go. [via PrivacyDefender]
