Nintendo 3DS Pre-Orders Start at GameStop

Can’t wait to get your hands on the Nintendo 3DS? Well, GameStop stores around the country are beginning to take reserves on the 3DS. Prices have been varied throughout, with some stores asking for $25 while others want $50. Not that it matters; the money will still go to the undetermined purchase price of your brand new device.

If your local GameStop should deny the availability of the 3DS, just tell them to enter the numbers “020132” into the SKU field of their computers and you should be good to go.

Now, all you have to do is wait until March. [via NeoGAF]

First Look at iOS 4.2

Apple recently released iOS 4.2 for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch and many features were added such as multitasking on the iPad, AirPrint, and AirPlay. Watch as we take a first look at the new update.

The New Twitter Interface

Twitter has been rolling out a new interface and it adds many graphical improvements. The biggest change you will notice is that the interface has now been divided into two columns. On the left is the familiar stream of tweets from the people you follow. The trick is that the more you scroll, the more tweets you will see.

The right column is used for viewing content from the tweets that you select from the left side. Videos, maps, pictures, and more will show up here as Twitter has now partnered with many media content providers so embedding photos and videos directly on Twitter has been made much less of a pain.

The new features are slowly rolling out and will be available to all users in the “next several weeks.” [via Twitter]

There have been rumors for a while now, but now, Google has finally made it official: Google Voice will be built right into Gmail now. In addition to Gmail’s text, voice, and video chat, you now have the ability to make phone calls using VoIP technology, acquired from the Gizmo5 acquisition. Call costs vary, but prices are relatively cheap, plus, calls to US and Canada are free.

To get started, first, you have to install Google Voice. After restarting your browser, head over to Gmail and you’re ready to go. Received calls will pop-up as a chat window, and to call a phone, you click “Call phone” and a pop-up will appear, allowing you to type in a number to call. Adding credits to make calls involves buying prepaid credits and using Google Checkout. Also, keep in mind that Google has only committed to offering free calls to the US and Canada through the end of the year.

This looks very promising and early tests we did show that call quality was exceptional. Has a Skype contender finally come? [via Google]

Apple has finally begun the much needed iPhone 4 Case Program. Just as Steve said at the press conference held recently, Apple will give you an iPhone 4 Bumper or a selection of other 3rd-party cases for free if you purchase an iPhone 4 before September 30th.  Of course,  you have to be in an area where Apple ships to, and once that’s settled, all you have to do is download the iPhone 4 Case Program from the App Store. Once done, sign into iTunes, select the bumper/case of choice, and wait three to five weeks for it to arrive.

There’s a variety of cases available. There’s Apple’s bumper, an Incase Snap Case, Belkin Shield Miera, Griffin Motif, Griffin Reveal, Speck Fitted, or Speck PixelSkin HD. Unfortunately, if black’s not your color, you’re doomed.

Also, if you purchased two iPhones and sold one, you’ll only be able to get one case, even if there are two iPhones listed under your account. Apple made it so you can only order one bumper/case per iPhone. [via Apple]

Google Image Search Gets A Renovation

Google Image search has gotten a refresh and the new changes make it look great and perform even better. Lets take a look at all the changes:

First off, the results page is denser and fills up with more pictures. Images thumbnails are bigger, giving you a better view of which pictures are worth it to click on. There’s also the ability to view 1,000 images in one page before having to go to the next page. New keyboard shortcuts (page up/page down) have been added too, giving you a faster way to browse through images.

Next, when you click on an image, it no longer shows you an annoying frame at the top of the window. Instead,  when you are taken right to the full size image, on a grayed-out background. Clicking outside the image will take you directly to the source.

As a regular Google Images user, these new changes are a great improvement. [via Google Images

After saying that all smartphones had the same antenna problem as the iPhone 4 does, Apple gave some much needed hope, free bumpers for iPhone 4 owners.

Here’s the details:

  • If you have an iPhone 4, you’ll get a free case
  • If you previously bought a bumper from Apple, you’ll get a refund
  • They’ll offer a selection of cases along with the bumper to choose from
  • This offer will go for every iPhone 4 purchased through September 30, at which time they will “examine” the situation again

You can apply for a free case on the Apple website starting late next week.

It’s nice to finally see Apple offering a free solution to the iPhone antenna problem.
